Description:
Cormorant fishing is a traditional fishing method, that was developed in China and Japan 1300 years ago. The Li river runs through the Guangxi region, through the tall karst mountains, along 80 kilometres from Guilin to Yangshuo. Should you hike along the banks of the river in Yangshuo after sunset, you will occasionally be able to see the fishermen coming to fish with their cormorants.
The fishermen throw a giant fishing net into the water, tapping the fish underneath. The cormorants have only to dive into the water, grab them with their sharp beaks, and bring them back to the raft.
